Book Review- Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl.

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future. -Cinder

I finished reading Cinder, oh, two weeks ago. I like watching BookTube (YouTubers who discuss books, recommend books, and do bookish videos) and most of them had recommended Cinder, so I thought, why not give it a shot? So I bought the book and read it.

It is a very enjoyable read. I liked getting lost in Cinder's world. Now, I wouldn't say that I'm a particularly sci-fi drawn person or that I Iike robots, and Cinder was definitely a change from what I normally read. Don't get me wrong it's a fabulous read but I wasn't sure it was for me.

Several chapters later I'm still iffy, but by the end of the book you couldn't pry it  from my hands. I was so into it.

I love fairytale re-tellings, in fact, I'm working on one right now, and Cinder works. You might be thinking "oh cyborgs, people who live on Mars, diseases, ick! It's not for me!" But give it a shot and you might just change your mind about Cinder. It works, I promise.

I have yet to read Scarlet, the kind-of-sequel, and I believe Marissa Meyer has two other books coming out this year so I'm definitely excited for those!

xxoo,

Eve
